Title: Ghost Hunters
Description: Seifer doesn't believe people can talk to spirits. Is this new group's medium going to change that?
Pairing: eventual seifer/squall
Rating: G for now
Word count: 654
Notes: Drabbles/ficlets tend to be written at work, so they're not as lucid as some of my writing. They're also completely unbeta'd unless otherwise stated, please forgive this. Also - this drabble series is a result of my listening to way too many ghost hunting podcasts and imagination.
“Are you seriously telling me they have someone who sees ghosts?”
Fujin shrugged at Seifer, stuffing her hands deeper into the pockets of her blue jacket. “So they say.”
“They? Who the hell are they?”
“The ghost hunting group.”
Seifer rolled his eyes, not believing it for a moment. It wasn’t that he believed or didn’t believe in ghosts themselves, but he had no faith in these supposed psychics. Especially when they got a little too vocal about their talents. He preferred more scientific proof. Photographs, videos, recordings. Things he could measure and disprove or believe because they were investigated. Ever since that Bruce Willis movie, and the ghost hunter TV shows every dumbass wanted to hunt ghosts and thought he was psychic.
“That’s them,” Fujin pointed at a small group of people being lead by Raijin. They looked disappointingly normal for such a popular little ghost hunting group. Two guys, both shorter than both him and Rai, and three girls. Hardly awe inspiring.
Gauging the group, he guessed the dark haired girl was the medium Fujin had heard of. She had the look about her, dark eyes and hair. Heart shaped face. Pretty, but not his type. The others were carrying equipment and bags, looking reasonably professional with black jackets sporting a little logo – except for the dark haired girl and guy. The guy just looked odd, wearing a leather coat with a fur collar. On the other hand, it was a pretty cold night.
But Seifer had to admit, he was sure as hell pretty. Maybe even prettier than the girl – but if he had to guess, he’d say the two of them were together. She was hanging onto his arm, smiling brightly. At least the scenery would be nice while he proved these guys had a crackpot amongst them.
“Rin,” Dark haired boy said, and the girl let go. He turned away, looking bored as he pulled a phone out of his pocket and switched it off.
“These are my friends,” Raijin gestured to Seifer and Fujin. “Sorry for all the secrecy ya know, but we wanted to make sure that you couldn’t cheat. Just a precaution,” he grinned at Seifer gesturing at each person in turn. “This is Zell, Quistis, Selphie, Rinoa and Leon.”
The one he’d called Zell – short guy, and
pretty buff if the way his jacket was bulging wasn’t purely padding – nodded, offering a hand. “Like you wanted, no research, we didn’t even know Rai’s name ‘til
tonight. we’ll turn in our phones and only use the walkie talkies you provide us with.”
The one called Leon handed his phone to Raijin and stood with one hand on his hip. Seifer couldn’t help admiring him a little. A pretty boy all over, slim waist, tight pants. He was willing to bet the guy’d have an ass you could bounce pennies off if he just turned around.
Much more his type. But – business first.
“We’ve got all night. I suggest we split into teams, one of each of us with one or two of you,” Fujin picked up her bag and took the phones as they were offered one by one.
“Sounds reasonable,” Quistis smiled. “Leon?”
“Zell and Rin, Quis and Selphie. I’ll go alone,” he said softly.
“Is that wise?” Selphie, wearing a skirt that barely covered her ass despite the October weather was bouncing in place to keep warm. “I mean…”
“I’ll be fine.”
Disappointed that he wouldn’t be able to follow pretty boy, Seifer pulled his camera from his bag and checked the batteries. Fully charged, and there were already spares in his pack. These little investigations ate through batteries like nobody’s business. “That’s fine, I’ll go with your medium,” he said and took a step towards Rinoa.
Leon shrugged and moved to enter the old building, pausing when Seifer didn’t
follow. “Well? Are you coming or not?”
Seifer raised an eyebrow. “You’re the medium?”
